Join us in the classroom, or in Seattle with the bustling nightlife, or up on the mountain to capture the Milky Way, these programs will inspire and challenge you to capture your world!

Most importantly, to help make your work special, it focuses on soft skills that include composition and properties of a good image; Understand how a camera works. Selecting appropriate values for Aperture, Shutter and ISO in the camera. Understanding what camera settings should be selected for taking landscapes and portraits. Choosing the right camera. Selecting the right lenses. Comprehending the use of camera equipment like tripod, shutter release, various camera filters, camera bags and cleaning tools etc. and their use. Use of photographic filters in the field. Learning important camera settings like White Balance, Image Quality modes, Histogram etc. Composing images based on professional guidelines for successful work. Plan a landscape photography shoot by scouting the field and gaining the appropriate knowledge for a successful adventure, and so much more!

Photography 101
: This is the perfect training session for anyone looking to learn the fundamentals of photography. Whether you are a new photographer needing to learn the basics or a seasoned shooter wanting to brush up on the world of digital, this class puts all students on firm ground for advancing their photography. Seattle Night Photography: In this class we will be starting as the sun sets and teach you how to capture those images shooting directly into the sun. Then after the sun has set we will capture our beautiful city at night! We will go through techniques of isolating your Aperture and Shutter Speed to capture different types of night time shots. How to capture that motion blur. It is important that you have a basic understanding on how to adjust your Aperture, Shutter speed, ISO.

Olympia Night Photo: Many of the most exciting photographs being made today, especially in travel photography, are taken after dark. Learn to meet a wide variety of technical challenges your work for a range of situations from cityscapes to night skies. Then we’ll walk the streets of the city for an evening of night photography and hands-on instruction, as we photograph varied architecture, fountains, highways, and a myriad of reflections of Washington's capital.

Sunset Photography: Take advantage of the evening light to hone your outdoor photography skills! We'll discuss techniques for shooting in limited light. We'll also cover exposure bracketing and the use of a tripod. Photographers of all levels using film or digital cameras are encouraged to attend. Bring your camera and tripod along with the owners' manual. When we are down at Discovery Park we will take advantage of the blue hour and travel to Kerry Park and capture Seattle’s amazing skyline.


Landscape Photo: This course aims at beginners and intermediate level photographers to consciously improve their expertise in the field of landscape photography with a focus on DSLR camera skills. It covers topics that include, but are not limited to, basic and advanced camera settings, equipment, shooting techniques, post processing, knowledge and planning aspects of your photographic adventures.

Night Sky Photo: Learn to photograph the stars and night sky, while traveling to one of the darkest & most photogenic locations on the planet. You will receive photography instructions on the best camera settings and shooting techniques. You will also use this opportunity to capture an amazing sunset.

Composition Workshop: We will introduce composition in photography to turn everyday snapshots into outstanding compositions. We will discuss composition techniques, including eliminating distractions, utilizing human subjects and other techniques such as leading lines and rule of thirds to create more dynamic images.

Ruby Beach Photo: Join us at the famous Ruby Beach and capture some amazing photos and if lucky an amazing sunset. Ruby Beach is an easy hike and full of amazing things to capture. Once we arrive and take a quick walk down to the beach we will go over different techniques and spend the time looking for amazing compositions. We will stay and capture some night sky before heading back home.

Astrophotography: Photography of the night sky can be an extremely rewarding hobby revealing the spectacular beauty of nature and wonders of the universe. We will head to Sunrise, Mount Rainier to photograph the Milky Way. Get motivated and learn how to capture the Milky Way, create star trails, and more. We will be outside the whole evening with little cover, walking up to 1 miles with up to 600ft of elevation gain and loss. Please wear sturdy footwear to walk on muddy trails and some pavement. Bring a pack to carry personal items, enough food to get you through the evening, water, extra layers of warm clothing and weather protection, camera, lenses, tripod other camera-related equipment and camera instruction book.

How to prepare:

WE PROVIDE: Transportation and instructor/guide.
YOU PROVIDE: DSLR and associated equipment.
CLOTHING: For outdoor excursions, we recommend that you dress in layers. NO COTTON CLOTHING. COTTON IS A NEGATIVE INSULATOR, WHEN IT GETS WET IT GETS COLD AND STAYS COLD. We recommend fleece, polypro, polyester, and wool.
